It was James Bolam's first serious main part. He made his name in the likely lads. He really is an accomplished actor. I think the signature tune was sung by the late Owen Brannigan.

Bonnie in this usage means good looking , attactive . I was in Barrow in Furness once when they had a spare Cruise liner anchored in the bay that the customer had neglected to pay for . It was painted in dazzling white and sleek black and towered over the Victrian workers cottages of the town . One of the locals pointed to it as we ambled up to the pub at lunch time , "wahay wood yoo like to bouy a Bonnie Boat ?" he cheerily enquired , well , you try typing in Barrow accent.

It depends on how you define near . In both cases postulated if the criteria are "use of the same subset of of characters from the English Alphabet " the answer is yes . Hope this helps
