The Day After Tomorrow - review

Saw this Tuesday night
STORY
Impending weather signals the imminent dawn of an ice age to wipe out the northern hemisphere and a climatologist battles the elements to save his son trapped in New York.
PROS
- fantastic special effect set pieces
CONS
- A bit far fetched depending on your view of global warming
- cringworthy climatic speech about the 3rd world
VERDICT
Having endured Van Helsing this was a blessed relief. Its very entertaining watching America being decimated by whirlwinds , tsunamis and ice although typical of these films the rest of the world being destroyed doesn't matter. Occasional funny dialogue albeit unintentional sometimes. And though our climatologist hero warns the Presidency, it's the Vice President who is portrayed as the bad guy rather than the President himself. Great big screen viewing but it will undoubtedly lose its clout on a TV. Decent dumb fun.
