hello all,

just like to ask the reliability of ordering dvds via the net.

i made an order with 'gamelink' over a month ago now but still nothing has arrived,when i chased them up they said it was probably seized by customs and so i had to re-order with them paying half of the price of the dvd,plus shipping costs which amounts to a considerable sum.

i've since re-ordered with 'mallcom.com' (via oidsworld) instead & hope to have better luck.

i'm sure any recommendations of consistant & reliable companies would be well received by both myself,and all potential customers out there.

karl, did you get a letter from Customs and Excise stating that your package had been seized and giving their reasons for this, if not very doubtful whether it has been seized, if you ordered from Gamelink it should have been send Global Priority which means it requires a signature and should be less of a chance of it going missing, get back on to gamelink and quote your order number and ask them to explain where the package is, just to dispel any myth that is out there, as long as the porn is pretty normal fair, ie no fisting, pissinge, female ejaculation, underage portrayal, then it should have no problem getting through, and gamelink are genuine and reliable.

I only tried Gamelink once, seemed reliable but more expensive than Excalibur or Jaded. Did Gamelink email you to say when the package was shipped? (They should do this automatically.) If so, you should be able to work out when the package should arrive - within a week with Global Priority Mail, within 2 weeks with standard airmail. But it can take a week or so longer if the wind is in the wrong direction or if Customs open the package to wank over it.

So far as I can remember, Gamelink don't use GPM unless you select this option (which costs more). And I don't think you have to sign for it when it arrives - at least, my postie has never asked me to.

If customs seize it they have to send you a letter saying so stating their rerasons - which you can challenge in court. I would imagine that the most likley senario in this instance is that it has 'gone missing' in transit. So, maybe your postie, or the courier guy is wanking over it at this very minute?

Agree with all this: except AFAIK GPM doesn't require signature.

More likely, they forgot to send it and are trying it on, or someone nicked it at their end. I had six orders come through fine with Gamelink, the seventh supposedly got 'seized by customs'. NB it can't have been nicked by postie as Gamelink actually sent me an e-mail to say Uk customs had seized it, complete with some pathetic supposed quote from them: "seised becaus of pornographic natur" (spelt just like that) - I guess it is just someone in their post department thinking they can pocket some money off the stupid Limeys. They asked me to resend postage - I sent them a fucking angry letter, CC-ed to AVN, the California Chamber of Commerce, etc - my package turned up three days later with no extra charges. They are trying it on. Tell them to fuck off. Naturally, I have never used them since.

If thats true Golostruda then you are accusing them of fraud. If its been taken by our friends at C&E then they (Customs) would send you a letter (telling you how good the film is LOL).

Please clarify old boy. I had a bit of bother before Christmas with a local plod who was under the idea that owning porn which was imported was an offence. It took them a couple of weeks to obtain the correct info from C&E and Home Office Policy Unit. I can say that no charges were brought but I still had to be locked up while they sorted it out. Which wasnt much fun. I spent nearly 36 hours locked up! And Still The UK Porn Laws are Unworkable!
