Why on earth do you have to disable your firewall to access a web site? This sounds dodgy to me - my advice is dont disable it and find whatever it is you are looking for elsewhere......

If you are happy to do so you should be able to allow
certain sites through your firewall without shutting it
all down.

For example, with Zone Alram you can let through sites
based on Host/Site, IP address, IP range, or Subnet.

Do not just do it because a site tels you to, but if you
are happy to do so then limit it to that site.

And run WinPatrol all the time so you are prompted if
any program tries to install itself.

Hi
You should never disable your firewall when accessing the Internet, except very briefly when you are trying to find out if it is the firewall rather than some other reason why you cannot access the site.
Usually you can get this sort of problem if your firewall software doesnt allow access to your service provider.
Software such as Norton Firewall will prompt you with info. about various sites/programs etc interacting with your PC and ask you whether you want to allow access or not.
I suggest that you go back to the manual/help etc for your firewall or upgrade to a more function rich product.
Cheers
David

thanks for your advice everyone, basically that`s what i`ve been doing. the sites that spring to mind are unzipped.co.uk, britishpussyonline and kathy wests site. to access them i`ve had to disable my firewall but still had zone alarm running. i was just wondering if this was ok.
