hello all,

i'm planning to visit amsterdam in the next 2 months & as it will be my 1st time there,i'd like to ask about the clubs & shops when i'm in the red light district.

hookers are not high on my list but i' like to visit some strip clubs both private (as in private booths where the girls only perform for you) and also the mainstream strip joints where they perform on stage in front of everyone.any recommendations will be gratefful.

as for accomadation,can anyone suggest a suitable hotel within the red light area?i'm hoping to go for maybe a 3* hotel,comfortable & reasonably priced.

lastly,i'd like to bring some xxx dvds home.in the likely event that the custom officer calls me aside to search through my bags,does he really have the right to confiscate my goodies for probably his own viewing pleasure?i'm talking about maybe 4 or 5 at the most,and the contents will be your regular porno movie,not kids,animals,or fisting etc.

any advice on the above will be greatly received.

you'll be fine if your dvd purchases have the same content as an r18 release - i.e. no fisting, or one performer pisssing on another, no role playing where someone pretends to be underage, no throttling or "forced" sexplay.

Accomodation best bet is search on the web i.e. google.com or whatever, there's plenty of hotels to suyit every budget.
Unfortunately strip clubs are the same as anywhere else, a bit of a ripoff but if you have to go anywhere go to Casa Rosso but standard price is 25 euro including 3 drinks, don't be ripped off!!
One place I will recommend is a bar called "The Same Place" at Nassaukade 120. It's an anything goes bar and on the right nights anything really does go, trust me. 8 Euros entance price for unaccompanied guys.

I dont want to rain on your parade but the porn is cheaper here in the UK by mail from Amsterdam.

As for the strip clubs and prostitutes I think you will find the whole Dutch experience much more friendly and value for money than the appalling UK scene. Sorry I cant remember any names of clubs. I stopped at this cafe bar you see and they gave me a funny cigarette...Its was good though.

I went to Amsterdam last year and expected the choice of porn vids to be better than in London but I was disappointed. Unless you want animal porn, extreme SM, etc (which there is loads of) the choice is lousy, at least in the red light district places.

BTW, there doesn't seem to be any Customs check at all at Waterloo Eurostar arrivals.

You're absolutely right, if you want a good selection of normal porn at more reasonable prices you're better to go to one of the outlying towns e.g. Haarlem, 15 minutes from A'dam by tain. All Dutch towns have sex shops with a fair selection of porn.

I agree about the porn shops. They are mostly from one chain, and all stock the same. There is one down a small alley (you'll find it if you wander comprehensively) that advertises as the cheapest in Amsterdam. Not sure they are, but they DO have a very good selection, nicely laid out so you can find what you want - e.g. one whole section devoted to Traci Lords. You definitely won't find anything illegal (like kiddie porn). Amsterdam is primped up prime tourist stuff. Lots of women wandering around and buying toys (and videos) in the sex shops.

Don't neglect the hookers tho. At one end (nearest Dam Sqare) you have the (mainly) German and Dutch girls - absolutely stunning girls, but only in it for the money. 40 - 50 Euros will buy you 20 minutes and you're out the door. If they think you are slow they get very huffy. Further down are the black girls (African) who bang noisily on the window as you go past. They usually uglier and cheaper (not being racist, they are often fat and/or older). Over the other side of the canal you will find the oriental girls - mainly Thai and Philippinos. Much nicer and friendlier, and not so time pressuring. Visit the girls late morning if you can - ideally Sunday morning. Only about 10 - 15% of the booths are open, but there is no rush, and if you pick a nice girl she won't rush you and you'll get a good gf fuck.

You'll find several places with private booths for watching performers. Some just strip, others have full couples sex.

If you want to buy cheap porn, head over into Germany. Any of the big cities like Frankfurt have excellent red light districts - almost always near the Bahnhof (railway station). MUCH better selection, and often for 10 to 15 Euros a movie.

I'd go with the Eurostar route, bit long like 8 hours from London platformm to platform including a break in Brussels, as the customs is a little more lax.

As for strip clubs, my fave is The Banana Bar, although it is not cheap it is fantastic!
