U2 - Daft bastards

I see Oirish supergroup U2 have lost approx ?10m because they left a master copy CD lying about at a photoshoot in France.
Now, don't get me wrong, I really do like this band, even if Bono sounds like a cunt with his politics, but lets face it, ?10m to them and Island Records..............its hardly like they'll REALLY miss it, now is it?
Still, I bet Bono and The Edge got a bollocking for absent-mindness. Oh, and if I had seen the CD just 'lying' there, I'd have had it.....no conscience

I hate everything about U2, politics, ego and music. they are not a rock band, thats a fucking insult to rock music. they are a pop band with guitars. as for riffs...? lmfao ive never heard an actual proper riff in any U2 ive ever heard. best they do a lil overtime and churn out a few more singalong anthems....useless wanks. and edge isnt tht good on guitar...fucking hell just get some heavy rock bands songs and listen to the guitar....much better

It,s called style over substance ID, there isn,t a decent musician amongst U2, never has been! there are of course plenty of expensive racks of effects, no shortage of cued midi,d loops/samples thrown in at thier "live " performances, not to mention the people who help them out, then of course with the fame comes the "known" producers, the massive hype....bla.... bla...bla, ask any truly good musician, who,s on thier most talented artist list, and no one from U2 is gonna be listed, However! they manage to conjour up a whole image that appeals to some people, with the working class, politic , Irish thing, so good luck to them In my opinion the Manics are/were streets ahead, still technically no better musicians, but far more creative, adventurous and thought provoking songwriters......
Eh! DF.

Right thats my last ever music post.

I don't think I'd be wrong in saying U2's reputation comes from their earlier, sparser and more enegetic performances rather than the giant lemon/car-on-a-string buffoonery of the nineties - that impressive Red Rocks footage shown on The Tube years ago sent ticket demand skyrocketing, I'm told. Obviously they connect to a certain audience and, unlike a lot of bands these days, Bono still owns a dictionary with the definition of tune not torn out in disgust.

Manics? Odd how six albums on we need them more than ever. New album Life Blood (tbc) out in the autumn. Bowie mucker T. Visconti at the helm. Pulsating newie Empty Souls (live) already floating around the net.

This is certainly not my last music post.

I think it is fair to say that U2 made their name in the early 80s for being one of the best ?stadium? rock bands of their era, but with over commercialism, egos etc, they have sadly sold that idea down the river a long, long time ago, just what market they aim the new material at is a mystery to me as they have long since reached the crossroads of their careers.

the Manics are in my opinion the only band from the UK in the last 10-15 years even worthy of comparison to the great US bands of the same era. They literally tick every box that makes a trully great band....they had excellent musicianship, great riffs, superb lyrics, passion, real messages, exciting image, were outspoken and i understand they are one of the best live bands around...arguably the best in the UK.......they were forward thinking because most bands have that influence in there nowadays and to round it off they had a member that genuinely touched people in a way that really only kurt cobain and tupac shakur did from the last 15 years... i wouldnt even start to compare them to U2....
