Quality, mature SF series positing time as something sinister and maleable. Scary too. Lumley's hoity mystique stirred many a young loin.

I don't know what the circumstances were, but a few years back the Beeb showed a clip of the married couples on Juke Box Jury from the early 1960s--- Nina and Frederick and DM and Jill Ireland. "Yes," said the mop-haired one, "I think that was quite groovy." Toe-curlingly bad TV.

I would have to say that David Mcallum was one of those big time actors from the late 70s to mid 80s who at that time with his role in the invisible man and before that in the man from uncle (I can still remember him in that polo-neck) he must have shaped a lot of peoples lifes, seeing (no puns please) the invisible man only run for seemingly 13 episodes I find hard to believe, but it just goes to show you how much people are influenced by childhood memories and the price these actors ultimately pay.

I saw him in Hell Drivers, a great 1950s gritty film feayuring Stanley Baker. McCallum played a crippled younger brother.
And he was Ashley-Pitt in Great Escape and took a bullet for Big X (Attenborough) at a train station.
