I remember the rash of 'penis thefts' in Nigeria a few years ago. The Fortean Times regularly covers outbreaks like that. A couple of people were beaten to death for allegedly stealing genitals.
As for the mobile phone thing... they should wait until they get their bills before they keel over.
Anyone fancy running a sweepstake whenever The Ring is released on video over there?!
