PRIVATE

Since my reply to somebody about something, I've had a few private mails re Berth Milton. Better to clear the air to one and all. Bert founded the "Private" porn empire. He was a very lovely man. His son Berth Jnr is another Sullivan-mean, tight fisted-empire builder.
The moral of the story is "nice guys finish last"

HOWEVER,I'm personally trying to break the Sullivan monopoly as you all know. This way, you can order what you want from whover you want without all the hassle-just like a demotratic society should be--but is not.

Agree with what you have said in this post and others with regard to Sullivan. Whilst Berth Jnr. may be a tight fisted empire builder I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as Sullivan. There is, to my mind, one important difference between him and Sullivan. That is with the Private Organisation you know exactly what you are getting. The content and style may not be to everyones taste - each to their own etc.- but imho they are quality videos and DVD that his organisation produces. I cannot think of a quality product produced directly by Sullivan or his organisation. If he didn't have the monopoly he would hopefully disappear. That is why we should all support you and the others in trying to break this monopoly.

Except if you have the sense to live in London, when it's not an issue. Hey, why don't you try breaking the 'monopoly' Wilkinson has on cheap fertisiliser? Sorry, but DS 'Private Shops' paid a lot of stupid 'fees' originally to get their licenses (now effectively localised monopolies) in dull Northern towns - why the hell should they surrender those monopolies? Most small-town councils will only licence one shop. DS is already there. He wins. What you gonna do - turn up in Norwich insisting your un-heard of football team Norwich Alexandra should get the council grants currently going to the well-established Norwich City FC? I think not. Wake up and smell the coffee. David Sullivan owns retail porn in the provinces the same way Bill Gates owns PC computer systems worldwide - you can challenge him, but he will crush you. Sad but true. PS To clarify, I hate both the cunts in the previous paragraph, but I am realistic. Come the revolution, I will dance on both Bill and David's graves. But between now and then, I won't waste a single breath, because it will be a wasted breath. But good luck all the same, whatever the fuck you're doing. PPS Are you assassinating Bill Gates, or have I got confused?

Its not a question of breaking his monopoly but of legalising what is already happening-illegal mail order.

When everybody has access to the internet these sex shops will be forced to sell at a more reasonable level the same h/c content you can get from all over the world using-mail order.

cheers

Quite right
Their personalities are the same in respect of being mean tough businessmen. But as you rightly point out, Private deliver the goods. Their productions are absolutely 1st class, they spend many thousands on their OWN films & are to be admired, whether it is ones own taste or not.
Sullivan started life as bookeeper to pimps and despite his great financial success, has never changed. Marino said earlier today what it cost a girl to get into Sport-it's quite true-I could produce scores of them.
The prick monitors this site as we all know, but he is never going to get into a fight with me again. My great pal PhilMc HAS
to do biz with him in order to survive and produce the stuff that all you guys like and buy-it has to be funded. However, let Phil use him like any shop that sells Marmite and it will all sort itself out

One point I think you are missing is that All local councils and any governement in power do not wish to enter ANY discussion refernced Porn. It just ain`t a vote winning subject, for them its a no win situation.
They are therefore much more liable to keep things as quite as they can, and probably with the DS organisation, they atleast know where they stand.

If we all acted like you (i.e. did/do nothing), there wouldn't BE a fucking revolution.
And please stop wittering on about the Great Wen as if it's some sort of big deal, and the rest of the UK is an appendage. There are more people in London who think they're God than in all the asylums on the planet.

How's this:

Private Media Group Inc., Posts Record Revenues And Profits
Editor April 16, 2002
BARCELONA, Spain ?? Barcelona-based and publicly-traded Private Media Group Inc. reported revenues of $33.8 million in 2001 and a profit of $7 million for 2001, both records for the company.

Berth Milton, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, stated "2001 was a year marked by a tremendous downturn in revenues and operating profits across both traditional and new media businesses world-wide. With this in mind, we are particularly proud of the performance of Private in 2001."

Growth for the company abounded from last year, with broadcast sales for the company increasing 51 percent to $2.5 million, and DVD sales accounting for $10.3 million, a jump of over 119 percent. Internet sales grew 41 percent to $6.7 million; the company believes that growth in DVD, Internet and broadcast markets will continue to grow in 2002. But those sales haven't dampened Private's sales of videos and magazines, which also rose $1.4 million to $14.1 million from 2000.

Milton adds, "Moreover, we are confident of continued growth in 2002 as we expand our new media footprint to include enhanced broadband and wireless products. Private remains the partner of choice for blue-chip digital distribution companies and the product of choice for millions of consumers worldwide."

Private is traded on the NASDAQ exchange.
