seeing arnolds post charlie i was reminded about this forgotten 80s drama series about a family firm imitated i thought in this weeks the bill episode although i was impressed with lynda bellingham as the firms mother,this series was fox it starred peter vaughan,derrick o connor among others.

Yes I remeber that as well Steve, Fox, Peter Vaughan is great, I loved him as Grouty in Porridge the best!

i didnt realise peter vaughan has been in so much he even played bill sykes in oliver twist the bbc version from 1962 i watched that but never knew him then.

harry fenner in citizen smith he owned the club he was good and his mate has been in the sweeney think hes names sweeney too.

He's appeared in some great stuff over the years---including the classy version of Our Mutual Friend and The Moonstone fairly recently. Possibly his most bizarre role was as the ogre with backache in Time Bandits.

ive never ever seen our mutual friend but i recall a lady reading the book on the train as i was coming home from school in 1971.
