I think its a choice between using the medically approved types of oil or cleaning out your arteries.

I find Duckhams 20/40w the best for chips, and a good Turbo Diesel oil, for frying scones, mind you I,m a fussy fucka!

No decent chips in Derby? Pah. You should try finding decent chips in central Lahndahn. Bleedin' nightmare. There's only one half decent chipper, and that's on Berwick Street, next to the fruit market. Always packed, queues out the door most days.

The queue will probably disappear if you tell them its actually mushy peas, and not advocado mousse they're buying.

Beef dripping does taste the best and crispy too. Lard also makes them crispy but less flavour. Oil makes them soggy - yuck!

If you want a reasonably healthy option though go for White Flora - that's what I use now my daughter's gone veggie and they come out really crispy with that too. Best compromise I think.
