am trying to copy my mpegs etc onto cd-r but don't know how. tried right clicking and going to "send to" but there is only a floppy disc option. how do i copy onto cd-r?

you need to use cd burning software like nero for example - your cdr drive should have come with some or failing that XP comes with it built in

or just open Windows Media Player (assuming you have it on your computer) and select the Copy to CD on the left hand panel....If you are on XP then you should get an option to write to CD in your folders where the mpegs are stored
