intrigued by the phrases "match fit" about sportsmen and "designer clothes" about obviously clothes. Surely a sportsman should be fit or not, and all clothes must be designed at some stage. Can anyone explain????

I've always thought 'Match fit' meant Mentally Sharp/Alert and nothing to do with being in physically fit

Designer clothes refers to garments of named and noted origin and style, be it brand or individual. Marc Jacobs is famed for his grungey, almost grotty line of clothes. And George at Asda is famed for its grotty line of clothes too.

Does "Designer labels" mean that literally. Armani designed the label fr'instance (but not the clothes). As if I really care.
