what is region 4 dvd?

was talking to a girl on another site about dept s etc she told me she has region 4 she lives in the midlands,what is region 4?

Ignore her Steve. The Midlands should be re-named Treacle town because everyone is so thick

The regional code is a silly restriction. Theoretically a region4 dvd can only be played on a machine specifically set for that region. Nowadays machines are either multi-region or can be hacked.
4: Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean.

And if I recall...there was (and possibly still is) an Australian only release of the complete Department S DVD boxset.....I was quite tempted myself, but the cost with postage from Oz plus possible Customs duty, put me off in the end.

yeah my credit card wasnt going thru so ace from the forum helped me out on ebay he bidded on my behalf cos i couldnt register.
