To be quite honest I don't think this is a suitable forum to discuss this subject. The whole of the Northern Ireland troubles are a complex business both here and across the Irish Sea. My family have been the victims of these troubles and sectarianism. As much as I deplore terrorism you begin to wonder who your enemies really are. The paramiltaries, the armes forces or the government? So come on, lads, find something else to debate.

Why shouldn't the troubles be debated on here; surely talking about these things is a (very small) part of the answer to the problem.

I was in Dublin a couple of years ago and took the train to Belfast for the day. Managed to get one of those 'unofficial' black cab tours that take you each side of the 'peace wall' and into the housing estates.

Some of the murals are incredible (both in terms of artwork and message), but seem very out of place in the 21st century.

At least for the last few years the tit-for-tat killings have stopped although I assume the punishment beatings and extortion rackets still go on?
