Here's a chav-centric piece from my local rag this evening.

?CHARVERS TAKE OVER

Bullies wearing fake designer clothes and sovereign rings have taken over schools and intimidate other pupils into failing exams on purpose, according to an education survey today. Research carried out on Tyneside showed peer pressure from so call 'charvers', who typically come from poor backgrounds and scorn authority, has been massively underestimated by experts. Students aged 15 to 18 at six schools, as well as 17 year-olds who have just left, were questioned recently about their attitudes toward higher education."

Fucking charvers! Would you send your offspring to a crap chaver school?

I went to one. My first day there, someone was stabbed and thrown down the stairs in what they called, in a rather Reich-ish way, Main Block.

It was a charming place, home to one of Scotland's original 70s psycho gangs.

Strangely, they don't seem to do reunions!

But I don't recall anyone there being forced to fail their exams. I always thought that aspect of education was voluntary, but surely these days all the kids are getting straight As, aren't they?!

Many parents don't have any choice which schools their kids go to.

In your initial post you said
"Fucking charvers! Would you send your offspring to a crap chaver school?"
I was responding to that.

Go on, now tell us that you are so wealthy that your offspring are either attending or down for private schools.

I know precisely what you were responding to, and the point you were making - putting your opaque rose tinted specs on suggesting that we should get the violins out for all those that cannot afford to pick and choose their child's school, because those people are the decent, hardworking, but downtrodden prols. The Bob Cratchets and Tiny Tim?s of this world - I simply introduced a flippant reality check pointing out that many of those who ?do not have a choice? of schools do not care about their children?s education anyway, or any education for that matter. They are the chavs. But I do know many people who have moved heaven and earth to ensure that their child goes to a decent state school in a middleclass area, by scrimping and saving, so they can move to an expensive house in the relevant catchment area. They are not wealthy people by any means, but they are decent, right-thinking people, the respectable working classes. There?s no way they could afford a public school. But if they care enough about their child?s future and education, and giving them the best start in life, and are prepared to make sacrifices, they can choose, and they do choose.

I apologise for my outburst.
I should have refrained from an immediate response to what is a heavy handed attempt to provoke me.
I'll do better after I've had my lunch.
