Letters to the newspapers.

Am I correct in thinking/remembering that the following example would not be published in a UK newspaper?
".....I myself boycott nearly all female candidates, who have no place in public life, and are usually feminists if not dykes too.
I also scout [NZ for check out] men and women whose names suggest a background of Romanism - I refuse to abet the likely promotion of that odious religion by my vote."
That is a typical example from a regular correspondent both to local and national newspapers here in NZ. He's not taking the piss. He often has a go at Maoris as well. I'm surprised he hasn't ended up in a hangi.
