Silverstone Grand Prix

I know its a sad day for fans of motorsport, but you KNEW it was on the cards after the trial street race in London a few months ago, and after Bernie Ecclestone fell out with the owners of the track.
I had the mis-fortune to be caught in a tailback in Northampton about 8 years ago with punters leaving the track and what should have taken me an hour to get to Watford took four instead, and if that wasn't enough, I worked there as a chef for a week in 2001, it was horrendous with me and 4 lads sharing a portokabin with no bedding or water. We did it and stunk like shit, and even then got stiffed by the catering firm that employed us. Im sorry for the fans, but behind the scenes with hard working staff, I am glad its gone. Before anyone berates me, YOU try working there with engines constantly roaring throughout the night from teams tuning and re-tuning and feeding THOUSANDS in hospitality boxes, stale with B.O. for what turned out to be ?6.50 per hour after we did get paid.

I'm glad it's gone too as it was just another excuse to mug off the fans. One year it worked out cheaper for me and a mate to travel to Italy and spend three days there with SUPERB tickets AND stay in a decent hotel than go to the British Grand Prix for the actual race day. They thought they had a divine right to be a part of F1, bollocks to Silverstone.

You have to take yer hat off to Bahrien and China for their new top notch circuits. Silverstone looks as shabby and dated as Brands Hatch.
On the subject, they should drop Monaco from the calendar, poxy street races are wank for idle poncey playboys to watch from their yachts. Unless its like 'the old days' for sensation seekers like me that love to see cars fly into the harbour as demonstrated in the 1960's James Garner film, 'Grand Prix'

Monaco is a shit race, let's face it. I can't see it being dropped though as it is THE glamour event. I've never been to it, I'd love to go just the once to experience it even if the race is dull.
In an ideal scenario Britain should host a Grand Prix but for too long it's been about ripping people off and now they are reaping what they've sown. Italy is THE race, the passion is phenomenal!

A sad day indeed.
It's all about money & lining greedy buggers pockets! King of the heap being the poison dwarf, "Big Bernie"!
Extorting money from everyone from the ground up. Unless the F1 gravy train is derailed & soon, it's finished. Astronomical rising costs will soon see to that.
As for a London street GP........it's a pipedream. To finance & maintain such a venture would make third world debt look like kiddies pocket money.
Look at the cost of that nice white elephant "one off"at Greenwich, scarily about to be repeated & probably outdone by a bid for the Olympics.
Now a fraction of that cash would have kept Silverstone running for a good few years.
Is it sound financial sense for the BRDC to bankroll one man for an ?8.9 million procession?

I heard a chap on radio 5 from some formula 1 business magazine saying this was all a load of bollocks and just a bit of a marketing ploy to find the cash from the government/local business/David Coultard
He reckons that a handful of Grands Prix are protected by a covenent which includes the British and Monaco Grands Prix. This means that they cannot be dropped from the calender by Bernie but it has to be a board decision by the FIA over which Bernie has no control or influence
dunno what the correct story is, suppose we'll have to wait and see

Can someone explain to me how a "sporting" event like Formula1 can be apparently owned by cunts like the dwarf.
Btw, one of the main reasons its going to China is the tobacco industry, countless millions of smokers and no control on advertising.

oh come on, F1 is not a sport, it's just a very good advertisment, the sport got lost a long time ago
but then we all know that, but still take an interest ( I do) or we wouldn't be talking about it
