Wierd Weekend.

So there I am, at the local statlely home, awaiting the Fire Brigade Union (Black & Ethnic Members) to finish their workshops so I can take their picture. Of course, they are running late.

Anyway, I'm wondering how England are doing as I stare across the beautifully sculpted gardens, when suddenly, two cybermen come running across the path, followed by a dalek, followed by a group of soldiers shooting at them!

Turns out there was some sort of Dr Who recreation society filming in the grounds.

It was just one of those "Wha............?" moments.

I know the feeling. Years ago I was staying at a London hotel where a Dr Who convention was taking place - stalls, games, people wandering around in Who garb etc (once upon a time I would've slagged it all off, but it's harmless stuff and if it keeps them happy, then fine).

Anyway, as I walking towards the back of the building a lone Dalek appeared right at the end of the corridor and stood motionless facing me - giving me one of the eeriest sensations I'd ever felt. Life imitates art, as they say.

There's a great scene in Bleasdale's GBH where an increasingly unhinged Robert Lindsay gets out of a hotel lift and emerges in the middle of a Dr Who convention. Absolute classic.

Telling this story to another photographer today, she told me of a time earlier this year when she shot a wedding.

On turning up to the hotel for the reception, they found it was being used as a set for an episode of the Chuckle Bros. So their wedding album now has a picture of the bride, groom and Chuckle Bros standing in front of the Chuckle Towers Hotel.
