Jeff - most dedicated routers will only have an ethernet connection (like mine has meaning I had to buy a modem with an ethernet port too) but there are lots of adsl modem / router combos out there which have both connections and to be honest they are cheaper now for the combos than I paid for my router alone 12 months ago.

The reason most people want a USB connection is to connect their existing modem to the router to save buying a new modem but if you buy a combo then its not necessary - if you dont want to buy a combo then "most" stand alone routers will be ethernet only.
