Yeah, what they will probably be is something to do with "protecting the consumer" which will mean making sure people, who try and suplement their over-taxed meagre income with selling a few things, more accountable to the bastards at the IR and DTI etc.

I don't think ebay needs any more policing, I've bought over 250 items through it, including cars, and have not one complaint.

People who use Ebay have got to look out for themselves but to expect a 100 percent guarantee in every transaction is expecting too much IMHO

Judging by the way that Goverments warn the public about email/post scams involving overseas bogus lotteries,emails asking for your bank account details & pyramid schemes there seems little hope that ebay will ever be 100 percent secure

No, Bimmercat, get it right, it is me who is wrong. All govt's are great, giving concerns with nothing but the everybody's best interests at heart.

All these stealth taxes and ridiculous laws are a figment of my imagination

Yeah - health & safety, consumer protection, environmental concerns - goverments is just a big nasty that prevents businessmen from making their well-earned profits.

And of course we all believe that without government "interference", no businessman would ever want to exploit anyone or anything - such acts would be completely alien to them and are virtualy unheard of.

The person who makes money by selling an occasional item on e-bay will not face a tax charge - they will be making capital gains covered by the chattels exemptions.

Anyone who has developed a business in internet trading that is making a profit will be taxed in the normal way - and quite right too.

Regulation is for wimps spook. Greed is good.
