yes, it had it's good points: slick direction, enough incident to stop the audience from getting fidgety, generous helpings of bible-black humour, etc - but essentially it was still populated with the usual rogues gallery of runyonesque archtypes that all brit gangster flicks seem to be fixated with.
a bit of psychological depth isn't too much to ask for, is it?
