I'm using WMP 9 with Windows 98SE. I've been looking on the MS site and it reads as if WMP10 is designed for XP. I've also been looking at some reviews and they're very mixed. Any comments?

Both WMP9/10 store vast quantities of info about which sites you visit, and I,m convinced they have a ton of spyware that can be downloaded thru the programmes, you only need wmp6/7 as a basic player, otherwise you may as well use windvd or power dvd, as a full blown player, as for real, the thing is stuffed with spyware and keeps track of every site you visit.....

Paranoid yet????

I've noticed that WMP always wants to report back to base. I always stop it.

Reading between the lines(editorial from PC Authority Computer Mag) its more than likely an element of the next Windows OS Codenamed Longhorn(release date sometime 2006)

I wouldn't get too excited that WMP10 is an improvement on WMP9 given that Microsoft are working on Windows XP Media Centre Edition(if ever released)

Designed with compatibility in mind with your exisitng TV/DVD/VCR/Hi-FI set-up

Lizard is right WMP9 & Real are monster collectors of info
Real being the worst by a long shot it must be said

Best to go into tools/options/privacy and make sure Send Unique ID Player ID is unticked
