There are some scummy, horrible things that happen---and they get a lot of press, because people are outraged. There are also some incredibly generous acts that are carried out, and they often tend to go unheralded because they don't sell newspapers or lend themselves to sensational headlines.

Michelle's karma idea is as good as any other. It may seem as though the world is full of hate, and anger, and acts of unbelievable cruelty. But there is a balance: everyday acts of extraordinary kindness and humanity are performed by people, whether we hear about it or not.

Maybe the press has just bought into this whole "fear" franchise and doesn't feel we can cope with anything but the negatives.

For what it's worth, anyone who commits that kind of attack on some defenceless animal, or a human being, is a shitebag and deserves whatever punishment can be thrown at them. My inner Nazi knows what it would like to do, but that would bring me down to their barbaric, moronic level.

We've had several Zoo enclosures in Adelaide broken into and entire groups of defenceless animals have just been slaughtered for no other reason than something to do

The individuals invariably are angry social misfits/outcasts who are most likely lashing out for their own inadequacies

As you say its a warning sign of bigger atrocities to come
Attackers of animals sometimes move on to humans
