Web design advice please.

Hi,

Can anyone give me some web design advice please as I am fairly new to this stuff.

I am constructing a fun site at the moment and want to know how to get pop up menus on a mouse over for a hyperlink.

i.e. If I go to this site (the main page not the entry page) there is a navigation bar at the top with news/match/shop/betting etc. When you run the mouse over a link then a box with a further set of links appears.

How do I get this to happen on my site?

I am presuming that it's a behaviour.

If it helps then I am using Studio MX although I do have FrontPage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its all done thru javascript - it looks good but remember some surfers turn off java by default so it wont work for them. If you use that type of menu then its important to make sure you also have a text menu available somewhere on the same page plus also a site map as a lot of search engines ignore javascript and therefore wont be able to get past your home page and spider your site.

I use a program called Sothink DHTMLMenu which is fantastic for creating all types of menus including such as the one you have highlighted - you can get a demo from

Hope this helps!

Thanks Jay for your help and I will check them all out.

I may though go down another road though if it will interfere with the spiderware so I'll have to give it some thought.

Thanks again.

Javascript is not the same as Java. Turning off Java support wil not turn off JavaScript support.

As it says in a tutorial I found on the web

"Before we go any further, let me say; JavaScript has nothing to do with Java. If we are honest, JavaScript, originally nicknamed LiveWire and then LiveScript when it was created by Netscape, should in fact be called ECMAscript as it was renamed when Netscape passed it to the ECMA for standardisation".

sorry that comment was just my laziness - I meant to say "turn off javascript by default"
