what a twat this guy is

just goes to show what power flawed science and an ignorant media have. If there is a measles epidemic in the UK this guy should face a criminal investigation for manslaughter

This story has been running for a long time in Private Eye. My gut instinct is to stick with something they support. They ran the Bristol chilrens heart ops story against a lot of opposition and proved to be correct.
Surely Wakefield isn't against vaccination per se but the use of the triple MMR.

he wants people to change from the triple vaccine to a single one, which, suprise suprise he has a commercial interest in.
His research was paid for by a group of lawyers trying to sue the makers of the triple vaccine.
All his work has been discredited by the overwhelming majority of the scientific community and he is currently making a living selling enzymes in the States as a so called cure for autism for which there are no papers to support the efficacy of but lots to say it's nonsense
No other country in the world has a problem with the MMR but because of his actions and a 'trigger happy' media uptake rates in part of the UK are running at 50%, which is going to end in tears

I don't know much of this Wakefield guy and the MMR but my mates son is autistic and they are absolutely certain it's come from the MMR stuff as he was a normal child before.

He's now 8 and at a special school. He tells me that before the MMR that school had 2 autistic pupils. Now they have 23.

Obviously the 2 are connected. That is unless you listen to the Dept of Health.

'Obviously the 2 are connected'

why? what sort of logic is that?

autism manifests itself at around the same time the MMR and the diagnosis of autism is a fairly modern thing

'That is unless you listen to the Dept of Health.'

and all the doctors in the uk except Wakefield and his business partner, every other country in the world that uses MMR and the other authors of the original paper and the Lancet who published it have all rejected any link.
Still convinced by Wakefield 'science'?

I don't know who this Dr. Wakefield is and frankly I don't know too much about MMR. My info comes from my mate and his Missus.

Now his Missus is a radiologist and a very intelligent girl and if you are any other person dared to tell her the 2 are not connected then she would tear strips off you.

The last time I spoke to her about it (about a month ago) she told me that the entire National health Service new the 2 were connected.

Don't blind me with science or mediacal stuff as I'm out of my depth and frankly I don't what I'm talking about.

My mates Missus does however and I will bow to her better judgement as not only is she qualified to make an informed decision, she also has to deal with it on a day to day basis with her son.

if the entire NHS 'knew there was a link' why has not one of them backed Wakefield?
