He certainly didn't deserve the Oscar for Philadelphia (overblown, over the top performance in a film given some quiet dignity by the brilliant Denzel Washington, slimy Jason Robards and always excellent Mary Steenburgen). As for Forest Gump . . . someone was severely taking the piss.

Tom Hanks can be relied upon to give a good performance, and there are 2 of his I do like, BIG and CASTAWAY.

Tom Hanks best film was Batchelor Party, along with some bird called Kitten, who was shagging the lead singer from Whitesnake
