Judge's pension's scandal

Did you see the news about Judge's pensions over the weekend.
Gordon Brown brought in a rule a few months ago that anyone with
a pension 'pot' worth over 1.5 million would have to pay extra tax
on it.
The English judges were not too happy about this and threatened
to resign en bloc.
To stop this happening a law is going to be passed to say that the
1.5 million limit does not apply to judges.
I say he should have called their bluff.
Search under 'Judges pensions' for plenty of stories.

So what else is new
The high end of town have always done anything they can to avoid paying a reasonable amount of tax
A couple of cases in OZ not that long ago told of several rich lawyers that were basically avoiding paying any tax year after year by putting all their assets into the families name and declaring themselves bankrupt-all perfectly legal but totally immoral

Brown would not want to call their bluff anymore than he would want to call his own. Judges and Barristers ARE the politicians, why would they want to damage their own stock? The whole country is run by the law profession, why does this suprise anyone?

In the uk, those that work subsidise those that don't - it's that simple.
And whilst it isn't as much fun here for the rich anymore (and, let's face it, why the hell should those with ambition and vision subsidize the feckless?), the ordinary working people are being pillaged by direct and stealth taxes.
If people actually thought about what they actually see of their, say, 23K per annum they would be disgusted.

Seem to recall we've already had this argument before
The rich being overtaxed to subsidise the poor
Take too much from the true entrepreneurs(not corporate executive parasites) and you risk them packing up shop forever as you say
Give too much too the poor and risk them becoming comfortable in their poverty.
Personally nothing was ever going to stop businesses from migrating Overseas. Its the difference in wages that is the real reason not the high burden of taxtion IMHO.I'd imagine the companies involved would have some monetary bonuses for setting up shop there
No such thing as the perfect system afterall we are dealing with Humans
the ultimate imperfect species

As my father said many years....the great EVIL-MULTI NATIONALS...ever increasing profits at any cost....nothing else matters....scary are these humans who think only in dollars
The trade in toxic waste/byproducts from the first world to the third has got to be one of the most short sighted practices ever undertaken but proves the point that the Multis have the governments of these countries in their pockets
for life
So we can expect another accident like the Indian incident from the Union Carbide plant pretty soon?
cheers
