The feeling will be that life goes on, even though a few hundred yards away there'll be bodies as yet undealt with. It's more the trampling on people's emotions, though.
A radio report from some reporter on Phuket in the middle of last week included the information that some beachside bars had reopened and some young tourists---mostly the ones that had missed the tsunami---were partying. Incredible.

No doubt the tourist and insurance companies will be waving the "Act of God" clause at people though, effectively forcing them to go or lose all their money.

I listened to a radio interview the other day by the Thai ambassador, he was pleading tourists not cancel holidays and to still come. Tourism makes up to 80% of the income in some areas and to lose this would make things a lot worse.
I had two friends in Phuket when the wave struck, they told us the other day that the main resort is totally unaffected, it's just the beach front. They been in Thailand for a few months and all the locals asked them to stay and not go home, so they did
