You can be charged a custome fee and a handling charge for clearance by the post office but it's unlikely for a couple of reason.

Firstly due to the volume of mail coming in from overseas then customs/post office only have a certain level of manpower and I think it's something like less than 3 per cent that even get checked.

Secondly I understand (was told so by a postman) that as long as the goods being imported/delivered are under the value of ?20 then there is no customs fee/import duty to pay.

The latter would explain why alot of the US online stores send Dvd's individually and not together.

I brought something for my car from the usa and had to pay a customs charge of ?5 and a handling fee of ?4 on something worth $35 , at the time about ?22 , this was 18 month ago . In december i was looking at something else from the usa abut ?130 inc shipping but rang the royal mail to see if i would get charged here and how much ? A guy told me the ?4 odd handling fee is by the royal mail but the import charge is by customs , so i rang customs the woman gave me a reference number get dispatch to write it on so we'll already know what it is , so you won't get charged a fee . I rang the royal mail back to ask about their fee and the guy said the fee is set at ?4 odd but depends on if customs 'take it in' , if they 'take it in' we have to go and 'fetch it out' and that's what the royal mail charge for not actually a delivery fee as i thought . Sorry if this is long winded . JJ .
