You have to get in early , don't give 'em chance to get up and get away . Oh and no dragging them out into the garage and shoving them in the pit and pouring petrol on them and setting them alight . Too many f**kin' do gooders . JJ .

Not at all , what right has anybody got to break into someones home ??? Why don't they punish people for doing wrong ??? "we won't put police on the streets we'll put a load of cameras up , that'll deter them" "we won't chase criminals , we'll catch them rotten bastards speeding" . I heard a old bloke on sky news last week , couldn't see the tv only hear it , but i could've sworn it was Longford , and i thought he was long gone , raving lunatic . JJ .

So long as they're in the living room in front of the french doors so when "the poor neglected unfortunate mite" breaks in , he gets it . But remember no petrol , or matches !!! JJ .

If you want the trauma/nightmares that go with taking a human life by all means defend yourself with lethal force.I know someone who killed a man in self defense 15 years ago and not a day goes by where it doesn't pop into his mind in a detrimental way
KILLING actually causes more harm than it solves IMHO
You might kill a burglar but I'll guarantee you that that won't take your house of the map for future burglars no matter how many you kill
Extreme deterrents mean little to the Professional Criminals or the Down & Out Drug Addict who turns to petty crime to pay for his/her next hit

We aren't talking about killing people , we're talking about defending ones self and your family and property . If people are prepared to take a risk and rob somebody , they should be aware that as soon as they break the law the law won't (shouldn't) defend them . The garage pit story is true , he's one of 11 people to be charged in 15years in the UK for excessive force on scum who break into your house . These silly vague "lets hide behind red tape and jargon" laws aren't just relevent here or unique to this subject . Why did loads of "british citizens" go to afghanistan ??? to spot butterflys ??? . Or were they up to no good ??? . JJ .

"You might kill a burglar but I'll guarantee you that that won't take your house of the map for future burglars no matter how many you kill"
I have experience in this area - not killing burglars I might hasten to add, but nevertheless talking 'firm' and 'resolute' action to defend my property. I'll regale you with the actual tale one day when I have more time (remember that). But, on the contrary, when it became startlingly clear to the local divis, scrubbers and chavs that our property was occupied by 'badass mo-fos' the almost daily incursions onto the land, into the sheds, out buildings, and even homes, of me ?n? my neighbours, by petty thieves and scumbags, stopped dead. And it's been pretty quiet for the last three years - just one incident last spring when some knob heads came in the night and tried to nick (unsuccessfully) some olive trees and stone ornaments that we had just had installed in our courtyard.
It's no good trying to reason with scumbags and morons like the Guardian reading middleclass handwringers (who live in leafy suburbs, with civilised neighbours) naively, suggest we do. Because these low-life?s do not have the mental capacity for reason. In their case you have to adopt the Barbara Woodhouse approach to behaviour modification - if they play up, give 'em a kicking, if they play nice, toss 'em a bone. Sorted.
