Can anyone tell me how easy/difficult it is to cancel membership to a site which requires a recurring payment?, thinking particularly of payment via CCBill or iBill. is it as easy as they make it seem?
Thanks for any responses,
Geoff

Very easy, when you join the cancel details are there.

Read the conditions first. Sometimes you have to give good notice if you are going to cancel. Don't leave it until the day before the recurring membership would start.

Very easy to cancel given that ibill & ccbill are the 2 biggest billers

Their customer service when websites don't deliver the goods is another matter

The only time I had a problem with Ibill was when I was browsing with IE5
I couldn't access their page to cancel

Just be warned that sometimes when you cancel before the due date as you have too to avoid being charged extra the membership will cease there and then

This guide to joining paysites is worth a read

I came across a site recently where the period of notice for cancellation was 7 days. They also had a cheap 5 day membership.
Its like maternity hospitals having a waiting list more than 9 months long.

Bottom line read the T & C first without dick in hand

If the site doens't have a direct cancellation link FORGET IT
Cancelling via customer service can be a nightmare because humans make mistakes

If theres one story that highlights this pefectly check out the CCbill story under subjects at

Yes its 4 years old but I bet they haven't changed much

Customer service seems to be something these big American companies don't believe in...just profit...but their websites for cancellations are A OK
its just the humans that need to be re-programmed IMHO

My top tip is whenever you join a site, cancel your membership the same day. This leaves you a month to mine the site for everything you need, ensures you don't forget to cancel, and allows for any 7-day-notice bullshit clauses.

All of the major online billers are reliable in my experience.

, and i have to say that i've never had any problem cancelling subscriptions with either of these. however, note from an earlier post about cancelling on the day you sign up is sound advice but both ibill and ccbill will cancel within seconds

Hi guys,
Many thanks for your replies & advice, particularly like the suggestion of cancelling the sub on the same day & rejoining again later.
