Album Art

Bit of help required, you know sometimes when you download mp3's you get album art attatched, well i got a shit load in my music folders but if i delete the art will i lose the tracks too....?? when i click delete is says they are systen files etc!! Dont wanna risk losing the music but all the art files getting on my tits.
