No, not the forumite. Mr Scorsese. Done up again like a kipper by the botox-raddled members of the academy.

But a quick precis is:
director---Clint
actor Jamie
actress Hilary
original screenplay Eternal Sunshine
supporting actor Morgan

Million dollar baby is a pile of shit as well, Aviator pisses all over it, Marty shoulda got one for Goodfellas, now that's a crime in itself, Not a Clint fan at all, and Ray was boring as well

Got to agree. Somebody in the Academy really hates Martin. He is a genius, I can watch Goodfellas over and over.

I hated The Aviator but MDB I thought was fantastic.
Quite funny watching the chavs on the row in front of me getting more and more bored with plot as it went on though.

I'd rather he'd won for something more substantial than the glossy product that is The Aviator, but hey, it's his own fault for signing up with Miramax in the first place.
As for the winners - ah, who cares. Morgan Freeman doing his clockwork Morgan Freeman performance etc. Perhaps now the public can go back to seeing films because they want to, rather than they feel they ought to.

A clockwork Morgan Freeman is head and shoulders among most other actors' tour de force.
I get the impression that Scorsese would have been snubbed if he'd been up against Ed Wood, Joel Schumacher and Michael Winner.
It's interesting, though, that the article in the link Buttsie found (within the unworthy Oscars thread) got the voting methodology right. Save for that wonderful mindfucker of a movie Eternal Sunshine, which somehow managed to win best screenplay. I can't imagine many of the old farts in B Hills sat all the way through it. It needed too much brainwork.

Chavs actually went to see Million dollar baby? then again it was about a bird fighting, so I guess goes hand in hand with the Chav lifestyle
