Some of you may remember that I posted a topic on "drink drivers who kill" asking for opinions on the subject as a woman who lived near to me had killed another woman whilst under the influence and here's the thread for that original post.

Well she got two years for it and you can read the story here if it's of interest to anyone.

Maybe if all cars were fitted with breath testing ignition units
then this sort of calamity wouldn't in all likelyhood happen

Just an allround avoidable incident

No wonder some countries ban Alcohol

2 years with a 5 year ban?

Fucking bitch got off lightly.

This kind of shit really pisses me off.
As far as I'm concerned, that kind of ignorance deserves a lifetime ban and at least 10 years locked up.

Nowlet's wait for Mart to turn up to say we don't understand the poor woman and she needs a hug and a day trip to Chessington World of Adventures and a free go of the bumper cars.

Her having 5 kids would have got her sentence reduced and the fact that the Victims husband wasn't baying for her blood would have counted

I agree the 5 year ban is farcical

The right to drive isn't a given and once you've killed GAME OVER

It's just that people like to blame it on the booze as if a thrid party forced it down theirnecks.

I have zero tolerance for that kind of social neglect.
Do it by all means, but if you know you are driving!

She got 2 steps right...taxi to the pub...taxi home fro the pub...perplexing that she diidn't catch a taxi back to the pub to start the domestic

Maybe anyone involved in a domestic should be put down(Ala Police Academy..Officer getting dear old grans Kitty out of the tree with his 357 magnum) ;-)

Would solve most of societies problems not to mention the Worlds over population

As I understand it the local talk is that she got thrown out of the pub by the door staff for kicking off with all and sundry.

As I said before I have spoken to her and she isn't a bad person. Far from it. She has run several successful business.

However I do think she has had a right result only getting 2 years as a quick search on Google suggest that 5-6 is the norm.

Remember she'll only do 8 months as she will be able to get an electronic tag.

not sure what 'running several successful business' has to do with anything

she went out on the beers, went home , then drove, that's just fucking stupid for a start. Then she had an accident and killed someone, that's criminal. She was very lucky that the accident didn't or could not be proved to be down to booze as the charge would be death by dangerous driving, many more years inside.

I wonder if the feeling would be the same if this was some chav who had a bust up with her fella?

Wether she's good or bad is irrelevant,She did the ultimate bad thing, killed another human being

That alone will be with her for the rest of her life and will most likely be the reason she never DUI again not some 2 year prison sentence

The intoxicated rarely act rationally which is clearly evident in her case

Lucky for the Pub Staff this wasn't in the US of A
They'd probably be in the docks with her for giving her the ammunition to get so Drunk

Worth bearing in mind that alcoholism is also a mental illness. Like drug addiction, everything else is secondary.

I'm with Buttsie, though; as soon as you kill someone with your car, as a result of recklessness or drunkenness, the licence is ripped up forever.
