If its dentists you're after, avoid the north-east of Scotland like the plague. Any time a dentist of either description (NHS or private) sets up, there are queues of hundreds waiting to register.
Some sort of survey last year showed that the Perth and Kinross council area of Scotland had the best standard of living. Its within a short drivng distance of three of the cities, has one town that thinks it's a city (Perth itself) and quite a few market sized towns. Highland Perthshire is gloriously beautiful.
