Flash Gordon

Just caught the last few minutes of this tosh. Cheesier than the Gorgonzola cup final, with dialogue George Lucas would have jettisoned as too awful. Just about escaping with their dignity intact: Max von Sydow, Timothy Dalton and Peter Wyngarde. Cardboard cut-outs: the two leads. Ham anyone: Topol and Brian "Gordon's Alive?" Blessed. Why didn't we see more of this hottie: Ornella Muti.

Cannot believe the director of Get Carter had anything to do with this pile of pish.

I've heard so many bad things about the Star Wars holiday special, I wouldn't dare watch it.

And yes, Ghostdog, Mike Hodges. Replaced Nicolas Roeg, who must have seen what horrors Dino Di Horrendous was after and jumped ship.

You vicious bastard you.
I loved this film as a kid.
Plot made fuck all sense but I loved it and the soundtrack.
Melody Anderson and the Muti chick gave me hard ons that kept Kleenex in business.

I wont hear shit about Flash.

As for the Star Wars Holiday Special, that was absolute shit.
Carrie Fisher singing some horrendous song to the the Star Wars theme made me ill.
It was so fucked up in a trippy kind of way especially the animated segment with Boba Fett and what the fuck was that man-bitch Bea Arthur doing in it?.....More like Arthur Bea.

Anyway....FLASH AAAHH AAAAHHH SAVIOUR OF THE UNIVERSE....

Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.....

Amusing and colourful enough camp twaddle that acted as a sly poke in the eye to some of the po-faced SF/fantasy epics around at the time. This or Star Trek the (slow) motion picture?

As a kid, it would have been fun. Sadly, I was already an adult when it hit the cinema. And how bad must the guy playing Flash have been---rumour has it his voice was dubbed.

La Muti was the only reason to watch it again. Hubba-hubba.

Sam Jones was a dude.
He did a short lived sci fi TV show filmed in Oz called The Highwayman. He had a gruff Aussie sidekick called Jeddo and he drove a big futuristic truck BUT when in trouble, a car detached itself from under the cab and shot off.
It looked like a Lotus Esprit and I for one, loved the show.

A weird and almost forgotten one from that time was Altered States, directed by one Ken Russell and starring William Hurt.

For all that you consider most holy, never on any account watch a Brit sci-fi monstrosity called Inseminoid, that ripped off Alien for about 100th of the price. Di-er.
