I have raced quite a few and dusted them but then there aint much that bothers my motor - they suffer from the same as the WRX and EVO in that they have big power but a small engine so they run out of torque and grunt up high but low down and up through the gears you wont be disappointed

Its an E46 M3 convertible - its the current shape M3 but not the newest shape 3 series (E90) as they dont have an M3 available in that as yet. I paid just over 50k for it with a lot of options - expensive but its one hell of a car!

Re the Evo its very hard to define beat - in terms of straight line speed and acceleration through the gears at medium to high speeds then yes I have beaten all the Evos I have come up against (no idea which ones tho and there are loads of them) as, like I said earlier, the 2 litre engine lets them down once the power of the bigger engine in the M3 kicks in. Also as the Evo is turbo based unless the revs are kept high and the turbo spinning then it really suffers.

However from a standing start its a different story - the Evo being 4WD gets so much more traction whereas my bimmer either spins its nuts off or the traction control lights up like the Blackpool Illuminations. Off the line any Evo (or WRX come to that) can get an initial lead but within a very short time I can start to claw it back it quite quickly and once traction stops becoming a factor the M3 wins.

When I was looking at buying this car I looked at the Evo and Audi S4 as well - I actually discarded the Evo because it just looks too boy racerish and becauses its service interval is 4500 miles but other than that its a great car and AMAZING value for money at around 30k new.
