This is possibly caused by using Windows Media Player and not having an audio cable from your DVD drive to the soundcard - on my computer if I use dedicated DVD playing software like Power DVD it gets around it as it decodes the audio and can play it but on Windows Media Player it wont play any sounds and as I am a lazy git I know I didnt connect up the audio lead when I built the system :)

BUY SOME SPEAKERS YOU CHEAPSKATE!!!

Actually, it might just be a case of setting the sound preferences?

I can use WMP & PowerDVD to play & listen to DVD's.
The sound should be coming out of WMP for your dvd's though.
Perhaps a WMP update?

Try right clicking on WMP -> Plug Ins -> Options -> DVD -> Advanced -> System
On the bottom right hand, it should give you two options if you are getting no sound.
Direct Sound & Wave Out.
Try each one and then play a DVD.
If the above doesn't lead you to the two options, update to the latest WMP and it will.

It may just help.

Good luck dude.
