Typically American I'd say. Over reaction is a way of life in the US, everything from sport to crime involves maximum noise, hysteria & lots n lots of participants. It makes for more newsworthy occasions. Ever wondered why it takes every police "veehickle" to capture even a shoplifter, just look at the news reels. Dozens of cars, ambulances, fire engines & of course a small swarm of helicopters. They just love an opportunity to flex muscle! & use their sireens!
Good job the poor kid wasn't apprehended carrying her weapon of choice!
In Dubya's model world if you ain't a white, blue collar, god fearin citizen then look out! The state is on to you!
Do the world a favour George, pull up the drawbridge, man the battlements & stay at home.
Paranoia is alive & thriving nicely in the US thank you.

An over reaction would have been her Guardians/Parents being arrested & jailed for bad parenting(might still happen?)

Let us not forget jails in the US are good for the Economy.....labor thats competitive with 3rd world sweat shops...wouldn't suprise if Jails take over manufacturing in the US of A

At least we can see where Zero Tolerance Policies lead to

I'm sure as we speak a book deal is in the offing and the film from hollywood won't be too far away, once they run out of action cartoons to make

cheers

Just goes to show that dispite it being the 21st Century there is still rascism in the good old USA. If she was an "ordinary american" then she would have been given a stiff talking to by the police! A sad state of affairs indeed.
