The Ashes

Post by Jacques »

Well its not exactly going to plan so far for England, but who will win the series?

as proved today, McGrath could be the difference. i'm very encouraged by the way England bowled though.
if England can keep McGrath out then they have a chance because the batting is pretty even.
i think a drawn series or Australia by an odd test.

Bowlers to beat the Batsmen but only if the Fielders come to the Party

Win,Lose or Draw:

Spectators, supporters & possibly members on both sides to sing/shout themselves to a standstill and Eat & Drink their bodies into submission

The commentary of Victor Meldrew Like Retired Cricketers will drive another young generation to follow anything but Cricket.Like they played the game to perfection when they were around with all their EXPERT comments

How BOYCOTT scored a gig as a commentator proves there are idiots working in higher places IMHO

Firstly I'll take Colin up on the batting being even on both sides.

In the one dayers and the 1st innings of this Test (and I mean against Australia) our top batters have failed on every occasion bar one which was the 9 wicket one day win and lets be honest they have been clueless.

The bowlers put in a great effort on the first day only for the batters to let them down. No wonder they didn't bowl with the same intensity 2nd time round as it must be deflating.

Secondly Deuce, Boycott is an excellent commentator. Sure he doesn't have too many comical stories to tell but if you want someone to talk about the game with it's techniques in both batting and bowling then there is no one better.

Todays play from England was piss poor and back to the bad old days. 3 simple catches dropped and allowing the tail to wag.

Bright new England? Looks the same old one to me. Lets hope it's just a blip.

Spot on Buttsie, the droning of the commentators almost sent me to sleep. About time we got some 'new blood' in. I listened to some Australian commentator once, he really did make a difference.
Richie Benaud might have been a somebody about 50 years ago, but hes so ancient.....a real throwback. Its like asking Bobby Charlton to commentate on an England game.
Dropped catches equates to laziness and thats inexcusable. I'd have the bastards in the nets practicing on Monday

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

We get the first 2 sessions live and I just mute the commentary
The action in the middle speaks for itself

I've heard it all before...different games...different grounds...same tedous nit picking comments from old farts massaging their EGOs IMHO

The fact that the 12th man-Billy Birmingham went out of his way to take the piss out of these commentators not once, not twice, not thrice but four times says it all for me

cheers

Personally I find boycotting all commentary far more stimulating but each to their own ;-)
