Onyone seen these being offloaded cheap(er) anywhere now they're discontinued?

Was going to buy one anyway, but now seems like a good time for a bargain.

Nah that was the first gen ipod mini`s they sorted that problem and if I remember rightly they also offered to replace the batteries on those affected or something

Have a trawl through the iPod section of the Apple Discussions and see what problems people are experiencing before you do anything else :

Sorry, but even current iPods have battery problems and even though Apple lost a class action in the US forcing them to replace faulty batteries, in the UK Apple still continue to claim there are no problems and refuse to change the batteries for free.

If you bought your iPod before May last year, the in-built battery was supposed to last for up to 12 hours without the need for recharging. But for the owners of many of these older models, the music has been fading a lot more quickly. Louise Sugden's battery started failing after a year ? just after the warranty ran out. "After the year it deteriorated from a week's charge to two days charge, to every night charge, to absolutely nothing now. It will last me five minutes on a train journey and thats it." Louise's manual says "iPod's battery was designed to last for the life of the product".

The owners of newer iPods have also been experiencing battery failure. Sarah Bove gave an iPod Mini to each of her children for Christmas. By June both batteries had failed.

But this isn't just a problem in Britain. There are plenty of disgruntled iPod owners across the pond where 1.3 million Americans have won the right in court to have their iPod batteries replaced - all at Apple's expense. But Apple is not so generous with the British consumers. When Louise spoke to Apple Customer Services about the US ruling, they told her it had nothing to do with the UK.

Apple say they?ve sold over 21 million ipods and the battery issues have affected very few. They take complaints from their customers very seriously. They also tell us that all ipods come with a one year guarantee and if it's out of warranty you can buy a replacement battery from ?49 pounds.

The recent lawsuit settlement is open to all persons living in the United States who bought an iPod on or before the 31st May last year. However the settlement is not available to people outside the United States.

Or 10 minutes searching in the right place (the type of place that do CD-r's, XBox and Play Station Chipping can sell u a new battery for about ?7.50-?12.50 i seen them at and ?15 if you want them to fit it ...

You can also have 80GB harddrives fitted for around ?80 and you can firmware flashed so its louder, lots of things u can do now
