If wmp files I would like to back up to disc, what are my options?

Ie do I need DVD-RW discs, or are standard CD-RW discs suitable?

I guess the former, but like I said I'm a novice at this.

Can any files play in a DVD player by any chance?

you will know if you put a dvdrw disc in, if your computer has the software to support it, you can store huge amount of information, if its music, or video or pics yeah all dvd's made these days will play it, i have a dvd player fantastic wee thing i bought 5 years a go but won't play a copy disc at all!!
Cd-rw discs hold very limited memory, maybe about 60mbytes which is shit all, i learn by my mistakes!!!!! Expensive ones mind!!!!

Sorry if this is useless but i thought i'd try to help lol!!!!

RW simply means re-writable
R means once burnt it can not be erased

CD will hold 700MB of Data
DVD will hold 4.7GB of data if single sided (DVD-5). These come in -R and +R flavours. Depending on your burner you will need one or the other. DVD-R seem to be more compatible with stand-alone DVD palyers. Some players will play MP3, DivX etc, some won't.

Nero Re-Loaded is simple to use powerful software that will burn either CD or DVD.
