Win32k.sys Blue Screen Error

I'm getting the "Win32k.sys Blue Screen Error".
I have searched the web for help information on this, but all I seem to be finding are pages with people talking about the error, but no solutions.

The motherboard, Memory, Video Card and Hardrive are all brand new with the latest version of Windows XP Home Edition installed.

Anyone know of a solution.

Use Linux.....

Seriously though do you get an 8 figure code with the error? If so what is it?

You could try this to try and diagnose the problem.

Got to love the BSOD(blue screen of death)

Theres a discussion thats been going on for years on this XP forum at the user friendly alternative site to microsft.com about the subject and by the looks of it there are numerous reasons for it but with out the error number your flying blind

You say the components are all brand new,

If it was an upgrade did you do a new install of Windows or just use
the Windows that was already on a hard disk ?

(I know you said you have a new harddrive, but it may be the slave
and not the one that Windows is on)

I had this one a couple of months back.
It's known as "blue screen" in PC boffin land and the problem is technically very boring but a serious problem with XP'S boot up reg. Basicaly on boot up the reg informs XP that something is installed that will not let it run and so XP re-boots for another go. Problem being that it'll do the same thing every time and all day long if you let it!

The only way I could get past it was doing a re-install of XP but NOT formating or changing the partition then choosing the repair option after Reg prompt. Now I am using XP Pro and I'm not sure if home edition does that but at least that way your leaving all your personal files in place and surely the boffine at Microsoft knew that home edition users would need to do it at some point.

I've probably been of no use what so ever but blue screen is a common term at our local computer fairs and no one seems to have the answer.

Oh there is always MAC but I've always thought that a good MAC was like a rain coat, except there is more software available for a rain coat!

I finally have the error and the associated codes.

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

0X00000050 {0XF705BD74, 0X00000000, 0X8050504F, 0X00000000}

This is the second error I receive. It switches between this and the Win32k.sys error.

The install of XP is a new install. I don't get the "blue screen of death" when I boot up, only at random intervals.

Hope the above code helps.

I'll post the Win32k.sys code when it next happens

My graphics card is a 256MB PCI NVIDIA GeForce 6600. I noticed on some of the forums I checked that NVIDIA cards were mentioned farily often.

That might make sense. The Stop message is for faulty hardware or drivers.
