I live in a town with a max security prison (Wakefield)
there was an article the other day in the local paper about some of the dangerous people in there, quick sample

Robert Black - child killer
Ian Huntley - child killer
Charles Bronson - robber/kidnap etc etc
Harold Shipman (ex) - serial killer
Robert Maudsley - serial killer
Roy Whiting - child killer

imagine my horror to discover THEY WERE ALL WHITE, and what's more NON WERE IMMIGRANTS OR ASYLUM SEEKERS.

this is a shocking state of affairs and we should force them all to convert to Islam in order to add fuel for the racists of the country

This is all very well, but just quoting a few individual aberrations and instances of infamy proves nothing. To make your case you need to show us some convincing statistics. Like, for instance, the various percentages of ethnic minorities in the whole community, and then the percentage of people within the various ethnic groups being charged with sexual crimes (or any other crimes for that matter) we could then compare those percentages with the percentage of Caucasians or indigenous Britain?s being charged with those same crimes. That might give us a clearer picture of what is happening in the community as a whole, don't ya' think?

That's because certain prisons specialise in holding certain types of inmate ... and what you're talking about are very rare crimes in percentage terms. Seems a bit pointless holding Shipman now, since he's dead - unless there's a special wing for the ashes/remains. Since the country is 92% white it is only to be expected that the majority would be white.

But the exception comes with the more general type of crimes - in that case 8% of the population make up 22% of the prison population, so either they're disproportionately criminal or the justice system is racially biased, take your pick.

Even taking account of the bias, there will still be 4 whites for every ethnic person in prison. It is also a well known fact that a lot of prisoners are actually mentally unstable and should be in an institution rather than prison. With lower level crimes, these people are not taken out of the prisons as they should be - but with a high profile crime it's different, because of the intense scrutiny the case comes under, so a lot of ethnic criminals are removed to mental institutions ... and hence the prison stats don't reflect the true story. Black males for instance are Ten times more likely than white men to be diagnosed as schizophrenic http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/464989.stm ... 1999 figures, but it's not changed.

So what is your point then?

Was I wrong in deducing that your initial post was a sarcy jibe at the 'send 'em all back' brigade'? Well, whether it was or it wasn't, it's an interesting issue and it would be intriguing to see the actual statistics of the matter. But didn't I hear that the Home Office had officially stopped recording the ethnicity of the perpetrators of crimes or was that just a PC suggestion that had come up but had never been adopted? I could see that it might be a good idea to stop recording ethnicity if the data coming out was, embarrassingly, undermining ones case, ones ideals, and ones philosophy.
