The downside of internet forums. . .

. . . is that you don't have clues as to the state of mind of the poster. At least with letters, the fact they are written in crayon on toilet paper is a strong indication that the author isn't playing with a full deck.

Do we really know a persons state of mind

I seriously doubt it,be it on the internet,by mail or in person
The humna mind isn't considered to be the most complex thing in the universe for nothing!!!

Of course the upside is we get to converse with a huge spectrum of people who in the normal course of events we'd never ever come into contact with
