WMV not "scrolling"

Certain WMV I download wont let me scroll forwards or backwards through the movie - they just play and I cant control where I watch etc. Anyone any idea why this is or how to combat it? Only happens on some (none of which use DRM etc) and I can still do anything else but I must watch the whole movie from start to finish and cant go back to see bits I missed without starting again - if I move the scroll bar in WMP10 it moves to where I want but then jumps straight back to where it was and keeps playing, Very annoying.........

Just the way its encoded, or sometimes it can mean the index and key frames are corrupt

It also means that the vid wasn't downloaded fully and maybe stopped before it finished. Re download the vid again and keep an eye on it from time 2 time as it downloads. It happened me a few times.

That would be a corrupt Index
The index is stored at the end of the file, so without the index its malformatted
thats why P2P programs say "Download Beginning and End For Preview"
But i'm lead to believe you can actually ENCODE this into files as well, never tried it but i'm told you can.
You can use Virtual Dub to correct or re-encode either way to fix it
