Dual-Core are very good at multithreading tasks. Which is about everything apart from games. Most impressive with video/graphics rendering. AMD A64 3800+ X2 or AMD Opteron 165 are way better than that Pentium. Not least in power consumption, where Intel have seriously lost the plot in recent years. Check this shoot-out test.

!xmas!

Dual Core in my opinion is a little behind SEPARATE actual processors.

The machine i use most has Dual Xeon's, with 5mb of L1 (512 ea) & L2 (2mb ea) cache combined, and makes the 3ghz AMD 64 (single proc) i also have look like a 80286 with a co-processor or a 80486 Dx4 or some other stone age gear :)

Sorry Dual Core is still in its infancygive it a year and i expect il be raving about it.

A little late to contribute in this post but I have a AMD X2 4400 CPU and the difference from single Bus CPU's is very noticable when multi tasking, the 4400 had 1MB on each level, for single tasks like gaming its no slouch, its really opened my eyes to dual core CPU'S. No more bottle necks for me.
