wot's going down, down under, buttsie? it would seem to be more the product of politics than puritanism.
also of interest: interesting to read their high opinion of the bbfc website!
not to be too dry: haven't come across many oz sites featuring this much, apparently home grown content.

Your right Woodgnome its Politics at play for the most part but also the moral crusade of a few religious do gooders who have never seen the film but have heard about the plot and know that it has been banned in 20 countries so they have jumped on the ban wagon.
Trying to deflect attention away from the Detention Centres where our recent Boat people arrivals have been going on hunger strikes,self mutilation and escaping.
The Government/Church has lent on the censorship board and they voted 4-0 to ban it.Even so there are still cinemas in Melbourne and Sydney who have ignored the ban.fair enough too they have already forked out money to bring it here.Can't see the censorship board paying compensation.
