Caspar Weinberger said that he expected, "Armargeddon to happen in my lifetime somewhere in theMiddle East."

Iraq did not have any airforce, not much of an army -equipted with obsolete weapons. It posed absolutely no threat to Britain or America.

But lookat the situation now. The Allied forces have a foothold and are ready and waiting on the borders of Iran the real target!

Iran has a well trained, modern equipted army airforce and navy. Not a pushover like Iraq and millions ready to die in Jihad.

"that Zionist Bastard"

You use the term ?Zionist? disparagingly. Are we to then take it that you are anti-Semitic? That you hate the Jews? Do you take the view that the sons of the tribes of Canaan have no right to take up residence in the land of their forefathers? Do you reckon that the State of Israel should be ?wiped off the map?? And can you put your antipathy of Zion into context for us? Are you Arabic? Muslim? Please enlighten us.

So, you're beef is with the Israeli government? I'm aware of the ultra orthodox Jewish right-wingers who are as loony as they come - but they are not the Israeli government. Is it the case that you recoil from the Israeli government because they are ruthlessly efficient in dealing with those who threaten Israel? Isn't that a quality to be admired? - A rational, stable, democratic government, repelling the chaotic barbarian hordes? Don?t barbarian hordes need a kicking? Aren?t wild-eyed, irrational, barbarians a negative thing?

But if you are not anti Semitic, then why single out Israel, a democratic state of rational, cultured, people? There are many more unjust conflicts and despotic regimes in the world today. So why not speak out against them? Why not slag off Mugabe? Why concentrate on Israel?

Is it simply because the Israeli/Palestinian issue is a fashionable middleclass issue? And therefore every middleclass person worth their salt has to pay lip service to it and adopt the anti-Israeli consensus prevalent among the British bourgeoisie. Isn?t it all a bit silly, poncy, and pretentious? Isn't it really all a load of cobblers? None of my proletarian council house pals (or Barrett House pals, for that matter) have ever expressed the slightest interest in the Palestinian issue ? EVER! To be frank, they don?t give a fuck. The do not feel any need to pretend that they are really concerned about some far off people in a far off land of whom they know little in order to justify themselves or fit in with their peers ('cause their peers don?t give a fuck about the Palestinians, either).

So, I say, lets knock this pretentious Palestinian poncyness on the head. Even if you accept there are injustices in Palestine there are many greater injustices all over the globe, and no doubt all over the naffing universe (I bet the Zargonians are being really beastly to the Antarians, over in the Crab Nebula, at this very mo). So, lets? not just be obsessed with just one of those issues. It?s silly and naff. People who are not middleclass will think you are just espousing that one issue just to be fashionable or ?right on? or because you are suggestible and don?t have the strength to be independent minded.
